The Gardening Class at Marie Gale's will be held on April 25th and begin at 10 am.
Remember, if you would like your dirt tested it must be as follows and given to Marie by April 21st or she will not have enough time to test it. (Know that Marie will be out of town from April 10th - 17th).
1 jar of dry, sifted dirt (pint jar)
2 T. dry, sifted dirt in baggie
Information on how deep you can easily dig into your dirt
If you have any particular problem, plan to either bring it up in the class or call Marie with it so she can be prepared to discuss it.
There is no time length for the class, but she plans for about an hour for the info I want to touch on, but I will leave a four hour block for any one who wants to stay and ask tons of questions.
The following is what I plan to cover:
1) Indiv. soil samples: What makes up soil and what to do if yours isn't balanced.
2) Fertilizer - how to choose the correct one, recognizing nutrient def. what the # mean
3) Watering, watering, watering Do it correctly or Woe will follow
4) Gardening in Wash, what zone we are in and dealing with all of our rain and acid
5) Tomatoes, easy to grow, except in Washington and the Gorge
These are some of the basic, but I know we will get into a lot of other questions and concerns.
Hopefully it will not be raining because I will use my garden lay out and explain why I do
what I do and how it can be used even in a very small garden plot.
NOTICE, NOTICE, NOTICE:
If anyone wants raspberry starts, tell the sisters I have tons, bring a container and a shovel. I have enough for everyone to have at least 10 or more starts. If the sisters will bring their own shovels it will go much faster and it will help me in the process. If they want starts for other family or neighbor. I am fine with that. If they don't dig them up and take them I am going to destroy them.
