Help Needed!

Dear Families,

We have been working on this year's Friends of Scouting Campaign and have had only a few donations.  We are hoping that by sending this email out it will serve as a reminder to anyone who has intended to donate, but forgotten.  If you hadn't planned on donating, please consider donating something.  Our goal this year is to increase the number of families participating, not the size of the gift.  We realize that many are experiencing financial hardship or lack of desire to participate, but ask that you evaluate what you can do and help as you are able.  We have been encouraged by our Stake Presidency and our Prophet to do so.

There are many ways you can donate.  You can donate any amount of money, in cash or check.  You do not need to fill out any forms.  Jennifer McDonald, Dan Potter, and Jocelyn Melum have collection envelopes and you can simply give them your donations at church or even just mail it to them.

*YOU CAN DONATE ONLINE RIGHT NOW!!!

If you would rather get a printable receipt and pay from the comfort of your home right now before you leave your computer and forget all about it, you can go online and donate there.  It's very easy and takes only 1 minute.  We are in the Columbia Gorge District and LDS Unit 549.  The website is www.cpcbsa.org/donatenow .  You can choose one of the preselected donation amounts on the first page or simply put in the basic information about yourself, click next and then you can type in whatever amount you choose.  It's very easy!!!

Donations will be turned in next week so please plan to share your donation this weekend.
The money from Friends of Scouting goes to several areas.  They are as follows:
  • It underwrites first dollar coverage of primary liability insurance for all registered volunteers and chartered organizations.
  • It provides training and program resources for our Scout's leaders.
  • It helps provide the council newsletter and other publications, year-round maintenance of council properties, and scholarships for disadvantaged youth.
  • It helps to ensure that we have Scouting professionals working within our communities to provide the best program for youth today.
In order for us to take advantage of the scholarships available we need to donate to the FOS program for those scholarships to exist.  Summer camps are coming up and many of us will be needing the assistance of those scholarships.  Please help us fund those opportunities for the boys to attend.
We thank you all for your support of Scouting!
