Relief Society Goals for 2016!!!!

Sisters,

As the Relief Society ward presidency met to go over the goals we strive to have for the year, we feel strongly the goals are not just for us as a presidency, but for the ward sisters as well. We invite each of you to participate. In praying about what our goals should entail, we have had many great lessons recently, including Tracey’s, on the topic “What if Love Were Our Only Motive?” (https://speeches.byu.edu/talks/russell-t-osguthorpe_what-if-love-were-our-only-motive/) Our ward is a great ward for any sister to come and feel included; wherever, whenever. Recently, our Stake Presidency has asked we start including the Laurels in our Visiting Teaching program as an initiative to better prepare them in their roles as RS members. It felt right to align our goals with the YW yearly theme and include an action for each monthly theme that will allow us to ponder these beautiful young sisters and how we can help them feel of the love we have for them. Thank you for your unending compassion, support, and love for the gospel!

January: The Godhead

February: The Plan of Salvation

April: Apostasy and Restoration

·       Goal: Watch this video with your family or a friend and discuss it after for FHE

May: Prophets and Revelation

·       Goal: Reread and study your Patriarchal Blessing. If you don’t have 1, consider if you are ready to receive 1.

June: Priesthood and Priesthood keys

·       Goal: Find your family line of authority

July: Ordinances and Covenants

August: Marriage and Family

·       Goals: Go to the temple and participate in sealings or connect with a relative with whom you have not spoken to in awhile.

September: Commandments

Goals: Volunteer in a youth center, share house, home society or school. Also, check on neighbors and provide a service to them.

October: Becoming More Christlike

·       Goals: Do a secret service for someone in need. Contact a presidency member if you need an idea of who you can serve.

November: Spiritual and Temporal Self Reliance

·       Goals: Plan and create a 72 hour kit for the family. If you already have 1, focus on food storage this month.
