Sunday Scribbles: Easter Sunday

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

There is a Relief Society activity THIS THURSDAY at the church building at 7:00 p.m.  It concerns working toward having a 'green' household by cutting down waste (and saving money at the same time)!  Nursery will be provided.

Two of our sisters sang beautifully in our Easter Sacrament Meeting presentation.  Thanks Jodi Nelson and Rosemary Neilson for those beautiful solos.

Bro. Stinchfield, our ward mission leader, asked us to participate in a missionary experience.  He encouraged each household to invite someone to dinner or to share time together.  We don't need to bring up the church to them, but just to set a good example and be good friends.  Many introductions to the church happen just this way. 

Sister Klemmer had surgery this past week and is in poor health.  Tracey Stinchfield is arranging meals for Sister Klemmer.  Please call her if you can assist.  360-921-5911.

We have two new sisters in our ward: Katherine Willis, and Anna Marie [Anna, I'm sorry, I didn't get your last name!].  Welcome!

Stake conference is next week.  There is an adult session on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the stake center, and Sunday session will be broadcast to our ward building at 10:00 a.m.

MISSIONARY MOMENTS:

Leslie Bergshoeff and her husband had a missionary moment with a neighbor while relaxing in the community hot tub.

Heather Schroeder had a nice experience with her new hairdresser, who asked her about general conference.  She had been invited by friends to Y.A. activities in the past, and had watched some previous sessions.  Heather will take her the conference edition of the Ensign. 

Marie Gale's 18 year old grandson came to the defense of his Grandma's sensibilities during a recent visit when the family was choosing a movie to watch.  Way to go Grandma Gale!

The church has asked us to use this social media information for good by posting the utube testimonies concerning the church and Christianity. 

LESSON:

Amber Molina shared a beautiful lesson with us about the plan of salvation, the perfect topic for Easter Sunday.  She shared her feelings about her faith in a life after death, as did many of the sisters in the ward.

At dinner yesterday evening, my the women in my family were discussing the lesson, and someone shared a story that was told in their ward.  The sister is a marathon runner, and talked about how she trained and prepared for a race in Idaho (premortal life).  The race began, and for the first 10 miles, she felt great!  Her pace was strong and steady, her breath controlled.  The next 10 miles become more and more of a struggle as her reserve of strength is tapped, and she wonders if she will be able to finish the race (mortality).  The final miles are brutal, and she wants to quit as the road begins to take an uphill turn.  Finally, when she doesn't know if she will finish, she sees the temple at the top of the hill, close to the finish line.  She knows that if she keeps her eye on the temple, she can finish the race -- and she does.  I loved this analogy, and hope that you all had a wonderful Easter holiday with your families and friends.
